Finishing up August at the library

I just uploaded photographs from August library programs and got them all divided into titled folders in the 2014 photo folder.  Amazing….what a wide variety of activities and author visits we had during August.

Animation camp was great.  Deb Vendetti helped our children transform their own story and artwork into a wonderful animated short.  Click HERE for a sample.

Miranda Batiste’s photographs and Ralph Hagopian’s paintings were exhibited in August. It always amazes me to see how others view of Swan’s Island is found in an artists’ work. We truly live in a beautiful part of the world.

Maili Bailey and Iver Lofving hosted Lincoln Paine (Iver’s cousin) who talked about his book The Sea and Civilization: a maritime history of the world.  I could not attend this book talk but was told it is was very interesting.  Sorry I missed it but I just might read the book this winter.

Don Junkins

Last but certainly not least, our own Don Junkins read from several volumes of his work and Belva Staples read poetry from her latest publication, Swan’s Island Sea Chimes.   Belva teased us a bit by letting us know she’s working on a mystery novel next.  Kate Webber returned to the island to read from and sign her book Swan’s Island Chronicles.

We had a wonderful evening with John Bischof but I’ll have another post about that.

More photographs can be found on the slide show of the SIES home page.  Check out the new historic images at the top of our web pages.  Enjoy!
