This week on Swan’s Island

What a busy time of year!  Craft fairs and Paw Prints Club, basketball practices, birthday parties and last night a great Holiday Concert performed by all of the students at the Swan’s Island School.  Grades K-8 preformed wonderfully as a choir even when the backup music decided not to work.

A jazz ensemble and a middle school choir showed just how much our students have improved over the past year with Mr. Granholm’s leadership.  The band is made up of students in grades 3-8.  The length of the pieces the band played several minutes each with even a piece from the Peer Gynt Suite.

Thursday evening the 8th grade will be holding its annual spaghetti supper and auction to raise money for their class trip.  This is always a fun time with a couple of bidders competing for at least one item, a ukelele for the past couple of years.

Next week Wednesday will be pretty busy.  In the afternoon from 1-4, Megan and Chelsea Tripler will host the Ugliest Sweater Contest.  Wear your ugliest sweater of the season and stop in to see if you will win the title of Ugliest Sweater Owner.  Food and fun will keep things hopping.

Santa arrives at the school on Wednesday at 6 pm.  Every child from brand new to 8th grade receives a gift.  A round of applause goes out to all of Santa’s elves for getting all of those gifts together.

More news and photos later. Out.
