  • The pumpkins are out on Swan’s Island

Ellen Dyer paid us a visit to present information about CERC Maine.  CERC Maine, the Cultural Emergency Resource Coalition, initiated by the Maine State Museum, is here to help Maine’s cultural organizations – libraries, museums, archives, historic houses, and other keepers of our cultural heritage – plan for and recover from disasters.  SIES will take…

    Next!

If August was finished up in my last post and now it’s October what happened to September?  Ah, that just happens to be rest and catch up from summer month here at the library.  I’m not sure “rest” is the right word for those of us involved in lobstering-I still have a few weeks left…

  • Finishing up August at the library

I just uploaded photographs from August library programs and got them all divided into titled folders in the 2014 photo folder.  Amazing….what a wide variety of activities and author visits we had during August. Animation camp was great.  Deb Vendetti helped our children transform their own story and artwork into a wonderful animated short.  Click…

  • Almost Labor Day

Well, I think it’s been a while since I posted anything….what a fun and event filled summer we’ve had.  Over the next week or so I should have photos and updates caught up and posted for you to see. Stay tuned….

  • June

It’s June already.  I look forward to seeing seasonal visitors and friends and getting out in a lobster boat again.  (I must say that I have become a fair weather stern man.) Last Sunday afternoon I got to spend time in the sun at Fine Sand Beach with family and friends. Definitely a hint of…

  • Rain, rain go away

We did have a few warm sunny days but this week will be marked by drizzle, rain, and fog.  UUHHGGGG!!!! Even so there is always plenty to do on Swan’s Island.  Last Thursday the new Swan’s Island School art exhibit opened.  A crowd of close to 100 family, friends, and neighbors of the students attended…
